Let’s build something awesome.

Extrusion Aluminum Modular Flatbed System for Overland and Canopy Camper Builds

Upgrade your truck with the Transformer Drop Center Flatbed by DirtBox Overland — a high-performance, extrusion aluminum flatbed engineered for canopy campers, slide-in campers, and rugged overland truck setups. Built with precision-fit extrusions and deep storage compartments, this flatbed system is designed to maximize space, durability, and off-grid capability.

Key Features:

  • Stock Truck Bed Height Compatibility
The bed floor aligns with standard truck bed height, ensuring seamless compatibility with most canopy and slide-in campers — no awkward risers or steps needed.

  • Drop-Center Design for Easy Access
Lowered center section increases headroom and provides easier walk-in access to your camper setup.

  • Maximized Side Storage
Redesigned utility boxes are deeper and more functional — ideal for organized gear storage on long expeditions or everyday use.

  • Removable Storage Dividers
Side utility boxes include internal dividers for organizing gear, but they can be quickly removed to create a single large compartment when needed.

  • Heavy-Duty Extrusions
Precision-engineered aluminum extrusions offer superior strength and support heavy payloads, making this flatbed ideal for serious overlanding.

  • Low Profile, High Clearance
Sleek, aerodynamic profile maintains a tough, off-road-ready look while improving airflow and clearance.

  • Fully Reconfigurable Flatbed System
Easily switch between flatbed-only or flatbed with upper deck box storage. Modular components — including the headboard, taillight pods, fenders, and lower storage boxes — can be added or swapped out to match your mission.

  • Sensor-Friendly Taillight Pods
Designed to be cross traffic sensor compatible, preserving this important safety feature on newer trucks.

  • Corrosion-Resistant E-Coat Finish
Electrodeposition coating (“e-coat”) ensures even, long-lasting protection with consistent paint thickness throughout the entire unit.

Whether you're building a full-time overland rig or a weekend warrior setup, the Transformer Drop Center Flatbed is your ultimate foundation for durability, flexibility, and off-road adventure.

Perfect for Tacoma, Tundra, F-150, RAM, and other mid- to full-size trucks.

Precision-Built. Trail-Tested.

T6 extruded aluminum, TIG- and laser-welded for maximum strength and precision. Corrosion-resistant and built to endure harsh environments, it strikes the perfect balance between lightweight efficiency and Dirtbox durability — engineered to outlast your truck.

Power Built In

Pre-wired and plug-and-play with four precision LEDs on both gullwing doors, a full-length rear light, and integrated switch control. A 12V outlet with USB-A and USB-C ports keeps every adventure effortlessly powered.

All-Purpose Roof Mounting Platform

Two full-length L-Tracks are seamlessly integrated into the roof extrusion, creating a secure platform for tie-downs, solar panels, ski and kayak racks, bicycle mounts, or professional ladder systems. Designed to transition effortlessly from the jobsite to the trail.

Side-Mounted Modularity

Integrated L-Tracks along both sides of the topper let you mount fuel or water tanks, recovery tools, shovels, snowboards, or even a side-mounted bike rack. Built to stay clear of the ground and protect your departure angle, this system turns every panel into functional, trail-ready storage.

Visibility and Ventilation, Refined

Designed for clarity, comfort, and safety. The front sliding window features a center pass-through section that allows active airflow between cab and camper — keeping pets comfortable and air circulating while driving or camping. A rear tempered-glass window adds strength and definition, while dual marker lights and an integrated third brake light ensure visibility in every condition.

Adaptive Interior Mounting System

A full T-Track system spans both gullwing doors and the interior, giving you complete flexibility to mount your setup anywhere you need it. Add tie-down points for utility gear, mount water tanks on either side, or attach accessories like fire extinguishers, diesel heater brackets, and third-party equipment — all with strength and precision built in.

Modular Strength, Built In

The side gullwing doors are constructed from rugged extruded aluminum — not thin sheet panels — providing the strength to mount heavier recovery gear and handle daily use without flex. Each topper is compatible with modular accessories such as interior side MOLLE boxes, 270° awnings, and more. On larger 8-ft trucks, dual side MOLLE boxes offer even greater storage and versatility for work or adventure.

Modularity That Works for You

Designed to adapt to your lifestyle, the Dirtbox topper’s modular roof system lets you build exactly what you need. Add a 270° awning for shade, mount a crossbar for recovery gear or hard cases, or install a cell-signal booster and Starlink for reliable connectivity off the grid. Every setup is customizable, practical, and built to keep you prepared wherever you go.

Ordering & Lead Time

What’s the current lead time?

Lead time is typically 1–2 weeks after your order is confirmed, depending on your truck model and configuration. Once your topper is ready, our team will reach out to schedule installation or ship it out to you.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — we ship both domestically and internationally. For a freight quote, please contact us with your ZIP or postal code.

What is the process for me to receive my topper?

Once your order and deposit are confirmed, our team will double-check your truck details to make sure everything fits perfectly. When your topper is ready, we’ll reach out toschedule your installation at our Denver facility or arrange shipping.

All toppers ship directly from Denver, and most customers receive theirs within 2–4 days — whether that’s to your preferred shop or your home. Just a quick heads-up: some neighborhoods with strict HOA rulesmay not allow large freight trucks, so in that case, we’ll help you coordinate delivery to a nearby shop or freight terminal instead.

Installation & Compatibility

What trucks or trailers does it fit?

We offer fitment for most mid- and full-size trucks, including Tacoma, Tundra, F-150, Super Duty, Silverado, Colorado, Ram, and more.

If your vehicle isn’t on that list, don’t worry — we can custom-build toppers for specialty applications such as fire trucks, first responder units, and expedition trailers. We also work closely with XVenture Trailer and other trailer manufacturers to design and fabricate custom topper systems that match your specific setup.

If you’re interested in a custom build, just reach out to our team and we’ll send over a dimension form to get the process started.

Can I still use my tailgate?

Yes — the topper integrates seamlessly with your factory tailgate, maintaining full functionality and weather sealing. The Dirtbox concept is all about keeping your truck a truck— built for both work and play. You can still sit on your tailgate with your partner to catch a sunrise, load up gear for a job, or set up camp for the night.

With our new duckbill rear design, you can choose to open your tailgate first or your topper rear door first— giving you full flexibility in how you use your setup.

Do I need to modify my truck bed?

No — the topper is lightweight and designed to fit most truck and trailer payloads on the market without modification. It installs using our custom Dirtbox mounting brackets, with no drilling required.

For most setups, installation is straightforward and ready to go. However, if you’re a construction company hauling heavy equipment or a full-time overlander running a high-weight setup, you may want to upgrade your rear suspension for extra support and balance.

Can I install it myself?

Yes — you can definitely install your topper yourself if you’ve got some basic tools and a bit of hands-on experience. The process usually takes about 1–2 hours, not including any accessories.

That said, we recommend having it installed at a shop or one of our dealer locations, since they have the right equipment — like a gantry or crane— to lift and position the topper safely. It’s the easiest and safest way to make sure everything lines up perfectly.

Can I still access my bed power outlets or tie-down points?

Yes — the topper design keeps factory tie-downs and bed outlets accessible, so you can still use your truck bed like normal.

Will the topper work with bed liners, bed rugs, or tonneau covers?

The topper mounts directly to the bed rails, so spray-in or drop-in liners are fine, but tonneau covers will need to be removed before installation.

Will the topper affect my truck’s fuel economy or ride height?

Not really — the topper’s lightweight construction and aerodynamic profile help minimize drag and maintain a balanced ride. We’ve tested it bothon-road and off-road, and haven’t seen any noticeable changes in fuel efficiency or handling.

Structure, Materials & Durability

What is the Dirtbox Overland Topper made of?

Each topper is built from T6 extruded aluminum, fully TIG- and laser-welded for maximum strength and precision. It’s engineered for off-road performance and long-term durability.

Is it rust-proof?

Yes. The topper is corrosion-resistant and weather-sealed, using aluminum and stainless hardware that won’t rust — even through snow, salt, or moisture.

How does it handle extreme weather?

Tested across Colorado’s toughest environments — from high-altitude snow to desert heat— the topper maintains insulation, sealing, and corrosion resistance year-round.

We’ve cold-tested it down to–46°F in Tuktuyaktuk, Northwest Territories, proving its reliability in Arctic conditions. For extreme cold, we recommend pairing it with our LF Bro Diesel Heater setup, featuring a custom Dirtbox-fabricated heater mount for seamless integration.

In extreme heat testing at 135°F in Anza-Borrego Desert, we paired the topper with portable A/C systems like Cybertake and Zero Breeze, confirming stable performance and interior comfort even under the harshest sun.

Is the topper fully waterproof and dustproof?

Yes — every Dirtbox topper is built for complete protection against dust, water, and debris. The rear duckbill design helps deflect rain and road dust, keeping the interior clean and dry.

Both side gull-wing doors feature a recessed frame and a thick, automotive-grade weather seal that runs the full perimeter, preventing any dust or water intrusion even in harsh conditions.

At the front panel, we’ve also added a dedicated seal to block wind and fine dust from entering through the cab-facing side — ensuring full protection from every direction.

Power & Connectivity

Can I charge my devices inside the topper?

Absolutely. Every Dirtbox topper includes a 12V outlet and USB-A / USB-C ports, so you can power or charge your phones, cameras, drones, tablets, and tools with ease.

All outlets are weather-protected and fused, designed for both everyday and expedition use. Whether you’re camping off-grid or working overnight at a site, you’ll always have a reliable power source at arm’s reach.

Can I run Starlink, solar power, or a cell booster?

Yes — the topper is designed with connectivity and self-sufficiency in mind. Using our roof crossbars and L-Track mounting system, you can easily mount a Starlink satellite dish, cell-signal booster, or solar panels to stay connected anywhere.
Many Dirtbox owners pair the setup with portable batteries or onboard power stations for full off-grid independence.

Can I add more lights later?

Yes — the electrical system is pre-wired and expandable, so you can easily add additional lighting wherever you need it. Many customers choose to upgrade with the Kingpin light package, which includes one light mounted underneath the bed platform and another at the rear door for better visibility when camping or loading gear at night.
