Precision-Built. Trail-Tested.
Combination of T5 and T6 extruded aluminum, TIG- and laser-welded for maximum strength and precision. Corrosion-resistant and built to endure harsh environments, it strikes the perfect balance between lightweight efficiency and Dirtbox durability — engineered to outlast your truck.
All-Purpose Roof Mounting Platform
Two full-length L-Tracks are seamlessly integrated into the roof extrusion, creating a secure platform for tie-downs, solar panels, ski and kayak racks, bicycle mounts, or professional ladder systems. Designed to transition effortlessly from the jobsite to the trail.
Integrated Power & Switch System
A 12V outlet with USB-A and USB-C ports at the truck bed floor, paired with an integrated switch system, keeps your lighting and gear powered — simple, reliable, and ready for every adventure.
Lift-Up Platform = Full Standing Room
Pop the bed platform up and you’ve got over 10 feet of standing room— space to cook, stretch, or get changed after a day on the beach. It turns your truck into a comfortable, open living space that feels like home wherever the road takes you.
Comfort That Follows the Seasons
No more freezing nights or overheated mornings — the insulated roof keeps the space relatively warm in winter and cool when the sun’s out. The ceiling light gives off a soft, cozy glow after sunset, and the big windows make it feel open and calm inside. With storage bags hanging on both sides, everything you need stays right where you can reach it.
Upper Deck Power + Lighting Control
The upper platform also features a 12V outlet with USB-A and USB-C ports, plus an integrated switch panel so you can control the lights right from where you sleep. No need to climb down — just reach over, power up, or wind down for the night.
Smart Pass-Through Space
Depending on your setup, the pass-through area gives you about 18–22.5 inches of extra room — plenty if you’re over 6'6"and want to stretch out. Flip the bed platform up and it turns into a makeshift workstation or camp table— we’ve even seen folks DJ from it under the stars around a campfire. When it’s time to crash, it doubles as yourbedside shelf— the perfect spot for your phone, book, or that first cup of morning coffee.
Translucent Awning Rainfly
Even when it’s raining, you still get that full 360° view— the translucent awning keeps things bright and dry inside so you can watch the storm roll by without getting soaked. There’s even aclothes hanger built in, perfect for drying out wet swimsuits or towels after a day at the beach. It’s one of those small details that just makes life on the road easier.
Built for Real-World Use
Light up camp exactly how you like it with four dimmable LEDs— two on each gull-wing door — so you can cook, pack, or hang out without fumbling in the dark. The front sliding window lines up with your cab window for quick access or a fresh cross-breeze.
And with T-tracks along the driver, passenger, and front sides, you can mount gear wherever it fits your setup best. Everything’s designed to make your time outside smoother, easier, and just better.
Easy Access, No Matter the Setup
Comes standard with a folding ladder, so getting in and out is quick and easy — even if you don’t have a drawer, fridge, or cooler to step on. When you’re done, it folds neatly underneath the pass-through area, saving space and keeping your setup clean and organized.
Full-Length Rear Light
The full-length rear light softly brightens your tailgate and truck bed entrance, making it easy to climb in, grab gear, or set up camp after dark. It gives off a warm, cozy glow — the kind that makes late nights at camp feel just right.
Side-Mounted Modularity
Integrated L-Track along both sides of the topper let you mount fuel or water tanks, recovery tools, shovels, snowboards, or even a side-mounted bike rack that is built to stay clear of the ground and protect your departure angle. This system turns every panel into functional, trail-ready storage, while still allowing quick and easy access to your tailgate for loading gear or setting up camp.
Visibility and Ventilation, Refined
Designed for clarity, comfort, and safety. The front sliding window features a center pass-through section that allows active airflow between cab and camper — keeping pets comfortable and air circulating while driving or camping. A rear tempered-glass window adds strength and definition, while dual marker lights and an integrated third brake light ensure visibility in every condition. The setup can also be equipped with the Alcatraz Security MOLLE panel, adding extra mounting points for gear, recovery tools, or protective storage along the rear window area.
Adaptive Interior Mounting System
A full T-Track system spans both gullwing doors and the interior, giving you complete flexibility to mount your setup anywhere you need it. Add tie-down points for utility gear, mount water tanks on either side, or attach accessories like fire extinguishers, diesel heater brackets, and third-party equipment — all with strength and precision built in.
Modular Strength, Built In
The side gullwing doors are constructed from rugged extruded aluminum — not thin sheet panels — providing the strength to mount heavier recovery gear and handle daily use without flex. Each topper is compatible with modular accessories such as interior side MOLLE boxes, 270° awnings, and more. On larger 8-ft trucks, dual side MOLLE boxes offer even greater storage and versatility for work or adventure.
Modularity That Works for You
Designed to adapt to your lifestyle, the Dirtbox Canopy Camper’s modular roof system lets you build exactly what you need. Add a 270° awning for full-wrap shade, mount solar panels, crossbars, or roof racks for extra gear, or install a cell-signal booster and Starlink setup for reliable connectivity off the grid. Every setup is customizable, practical, and built to keep you prepared wherever you roam.
Ordering & Lead Time
What’s the current lead time?
Lead time is typically 1–2 weeks after your order is confirmed, depending on your truck model and configuration. Once your canopy camper is ready, our team will reach out to schedule installation or ship it out to you.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — we ship both domestically and internationally. For a freight quote, please contact us with your ZIP or postal code.
What is the process for me to receive my canopy camper?
Once your order and deposit are confirmed, our team will double-check your truck details to ensure your canopy camper fits perfectly. When your build is complete, we’ll reach out to schedule installation at our Denver facility or arrange freight shipping. All canopy campers ship directly from Denver, and most customers receive theirs within 3–5 days — whether that’s to your preferred shop or your home.
Just a quick heads-up: some neighborhoods with strict HOA rules may not allow large freight trucks, so in that case, we’ll help coordinate delivery to a nearby shop or freight terminal instead.
Installation & Compatibility
What trucks or trailers does it fit?
We offer fitment for most mid- and full-size trucks, including Tacoma, Tundra, F-150, Super Duty, Silverado, Colorado, Ram, and more.
If your vehicle isn’t on that list, don’t worry — we can custom-build toppers for specialty applications such as fire trucks, first responder units, and expedition trailers. We also work closely with XVenture Trailer and other trailer manufacturers to design and fabricate custom topper systems that match your specific setup.
If you’re interested in a custom build, just reach out to our team and we’ll send over a dimension form to get the process started.
Can I still use my tailgate?
Yes — the canopy camper integrates seamlessly with your factory tailgate, maintaining full functionality and weather sealing. The Dirtbox concept is all about keeping your truck a truck — built for both work and play. You can still sit on your tailgate with your partner to catch a sunrise, load up gear for a job, or set up camp for the night. With our new duckbill rear design, you can choose to open your tailgate first or your canopy camper’s rear door first — giving you full flexibility in how you use your setup.
Do I need to modify my truck bed?
No — the canopy camper is lightweight and designed to fit most truck and trailer payloads on the market without modification. It installs using our custom Dirtbox mounting brackets, with no drilling required. For most setups, installation is straightforward and ready to go. However, if you’re a construction company hauling heavy equipment or a full-time overlander running a high-weight setup, you may want to upgrade your rear suspension for extra support and balance.
Can I install it myself?
Yes — you can definitely install your canopy camper yourself if you’ve got some basic tools and a bit of hands-on experience. The process usually takes about 2–3 hours, not including any accessories or wiring. That said, we recommend having it installed at a shop or one of our dealer locations, since they have the right equipment — like a gantry or crane — to lift and position the canopy camper safely. It’s the easiest and safest way to make sure everything lines up perfectly.
Can I still access my bed power outlets or tie-down points?
Yes — the canopy camper design keeps factory tie-downs and bed outlets accessible, so you can still use your truck bed like normal.
Will the canopy camper work with bed liners, bed rugs, or tonneau covers?
The canopy camper mounts directly to the bed rails, so spray-in or drop-in liners are fine, but tonneau covers will need to be removed before installation.
Will the canopy camper affect my truck’s fuel economy or ride height?
Not really — the canopy camper’s lightweight construction and aerodynamic profile help maintain a balanced ride and minimize drag. We’ve also developed an optional wind deflector to further enhance aerodynamics. Tested both on-road and off-road, the setup shows no noticeable changes in fuel efficiency or handling. If MPG is a big concern, we recommend adding the wind deflector for the best results. This also depends on your truck setup — if you already have a hard case or gear mounted on the roof rack in front of the canopy camper, you likely won’t need it. In our testing, we’ve seen a difference of about 1–2 MPG depending on the setup.
Do I need to remove my factory utility rails to install the canopy camper?
No — you don’t need to remove them. The canopy camper is designed to work with most factory and aftermarket utility rails. Our mounting brackets attach directly to the rail system using existing anchor points, with no drilling required.
If you’re not sure how to mount it on your truck bed, please send us a few pictures of your setup to720-281-9445 or info@dirtboxoverland.com, and our team will help you confirm compatibility.
Structure, Materials & Durability
What is the Dirtbox Overland canopy camper made of?
Each canopy camper is built from a combination of T5 and T6 extruded aluminum, fully TIG- and laser -welded for maximum strength and precision. It’s engineered for off-road performance and long-term durability, delivering a structure that’s both lightweight and exceptionally rigid.
How does it handle extreme weather?
Tested across Colorado’s toughest environments — from high-altitude snow to desert heat — the canopy camper delivers reliable sealing, strength, and corrosion resistance year-round. It’s been cold-tested down to –46°F in Tuktuyaktuk and heat-tested up to 125°F in Anza-Borrego Desert. For extreme cold, we recommend pairing it with our LF Bro Diesel Heater setup, and for hot climates, portable A/C systems like Cybertake or Zero Breeze help keep the interior comfortable wherever you camp.
Is the canopy camper fully waterproof and dustproof?
Yes — every Dirtbox canopy camper is built for complete protection against dust, water, and debris. The rear duckbill design helps deflect rain and road dust, keeping the interior clean and dry.
Both side gull-wing doors feature a recessed frame with a thick, automotive-grade weather seal running the full perimeter, preventing any dust or water intrusion even in harsh conditions.
At the front panel, we’ve also added a dedicated seal to block wind and fine dust from entering through the cab-facing side — ensuring full protection from every direction.
Power & Connectivity
Can I charge my devices inside the canopy camper?
Absolutely. Every Dirtbox canopy camper comes equipped with two control panels — one on the truck bed floor and one on the sleeping platform — each featuring a 12V outlet and USB-A / USB-C ports. You can easily power or charge your phones, cameras, drones, tablets, or tools from either area.
All outlets are weather-protected and fused, designed for both everyday use and extended off-grid adventures. Whether you’re camping deep in the backcountry or working overnight at a site, you’ll always have reliable power within reach.
Can I run Starlink, solar power, or a cell booster?
Yes — the canopy camper is designed with connectivity and self-sufficiency in mind. Using our roof crossbars and L-Track mounting system, you can easily mount a Starlink satellite dish, cell-signal booster, or solar panels to stay connected anywhere.
Many Dirtbox owners pair the setup with portable batteries or onboard power stations for full off-grid independence.
Can I add more lights later?
Yes — the electrical system is easy to expand, so you can add lights wherever you need them. A lot of people go for our Kingpin light package, which adds one light under the bed platform and another at the rear door — super handy when you’re camping or loading gear at night.
You can also throw some lights up front — the canopy camper’s front lip sits a bit higher than most roof racks, giving you awesome off-road visibility. The side T-tracks are perfect for mounting your favorite side shooters, and there are rear tracks if you want extra lights facing backward for camp or trail use. That’s the fun part of Dirtbox modularity — set it up your way and light up every adventure.
