Dirtbox Overland Shipping & Return Policy

At Dirtbox Overland, we are committed to delivering your gear safely, efficiently, and transparently. Below is our complete shipping and return policy covering canopy campers, flatbeds, toppers, drawer systems, and accessories, along with our liability terms.


🚚 Shipping Overview

We ship nationwide across the U.S. All shipping costs are calculated at checkout or included in your custom invoice.

  • Larger items like canopy campers, flatbeds, and toppers are shipped via freight carriers to commercial addresses or local freight terminals.

  • In some cases, we can ship to a residential address if you have proper unloading equipment, such as a forklift or full-height loading dock.

  • Drawer systems and accessories are shipped via LTL freight or parcel carriers like UPS, FedEx, or USPS, depending on size and weight.

  • In rare cases, a dealer or installer may request to use their own shipping carrier. We will coordinate as best as possible, but please note that scheduling, liability, and timing are the responsibility of the third-party shipper.

Please note:

  • All commercial freight deliveries occur Monday through Friday only.

  • Shipping may be delayed around holidays due to carrier and warehouse closures—please plan accordingly.

  • We maintain close communication with all parties to coordinate freight driver logistics, including terminal drop-offs and appointment deliveries.


šŸ›» Canopy Campers, Flatbeds & Toppers

Shipping Method: LTL Freight or Truck Freight
Default Delivery Location:

  • Commercial address with forklift or loading dock

  • Or, nearest freight terminal for customer pickup

Residential Shipping:
We do not recommend residential freight unless you have the proper unloading equipment. If you do—and you're confident handling it—we're happy to help coordinate a residential freight drop.

Lead Time:

  • Production begins immediately after your deposit is received

  • Estimated lead time is communicated at the time of order

Before Delivery

  • We’ll provide tracking details and work closely with you—or your selected dealer/installer—to coordinate a delivery window.

  • For large items, we maintain direct communication with your dealer or installer to confirm their available window to receive the unit.

  • Once scheduled, the freight driver will reach out directly to the dealer/installer or yourself (depending on who is receiving the shipment) to finalize the drop-off or pickup timing.

Upon Delivery

  • Inspect all items before signing the delivery slip.

  • If there is any visible damage, note it clearly on the delivery receipt, take detailed photos, and contact us immediately.

  • If no damage is noted and the delivery is signed off without inspection, we may have limited ability to assist with freight damage claims.


🧰 Drawer Systems

Shipping Method:

  • Typically LTL freight, though smaller drawer systems may ship via parcel

Packaging:

  • Drawer systems are securely packaged with bracing and padding to prevent movement and damage

Delivery Notes:

  • Residential deliveries may require liftgate service—please confirm during checkout

  • Tracking info and delivery updates will be provided once your order ships


🧩 Accessories

Shipping Method:

  • Accessories are shipped via UPS, FedEx, or USPS

  • You’ll receive a tracking number once your order leaves our warehouse

Processing Time:

  • In-stock items typically ship within 3–5 business days

  • Custom or made-to-order accessories may have longer lead times, which will be clearly communicated


šŸ” Return Shipping Information

Returns Are Accepted for Accessories and Drawer Systems Only

Returns must be initiated within 14 days of delivery and meet the following conditions:

Drawer Systems 20% 3% Free if returned to our Denver HQ, otherwise shipping cost is deducted
Accessories 20% 3% Free if returned to Denver HQ, otherwise shipping cost is deducted

Note: The fees listed for canopy campers, flatbeds, and toppers are minimum charges. Additional fees may apply based on the condition of the returned item and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.


Return Instructions

  • All items must be unused and in original condition

  • Include your order number in the return package

  • We will inspect returned products before issuing any refund

Damage During Return Shipping:
We recommend insuring your return package. If a product is damaged during return transit, we will notify you and work with you on next steps. Refunds may be adjusted based on the damage incurred.


āš ļø Return Freight for Large Items

Returning large items such as canopy campers, flatbeds, and toppers by freight is very expensive. If you are unsure about sizing, fitment, or style, please reach out to us before ordering.

If you simply change your mind or decide not to keep the product, we may be able to connect you with a local buyer to help you avoid return shipping costs.

Return Packaging Requirements

If a return is necessary, please adhere to the following packaging guidelines to ensure the item is protected during transit:

  • Use Original Packaging: Whenever possible, repack the item using the original materials and methods we used for the initial shipment.

  • Secure with Foam and Padding: Ensure all surfaces are adequately protected with foam, bubble wrap, or similar cushioning materials to prevent movement and damage.

  • Reinforce the Crate: If the item was shipped in a crate, make sure it is structurally sound and properly secured.

  • Seal All Openings: Close and seal all openings to prevent debris or moisture from entering during transit.

  • Label Clearly: Affix all necessary labels, including the return address and any handling instructions, prominently on the package.

Improper packaging may result in damage during return shipping, which could affect the eligibility for a full refund. We reserve the right to assess the condition of returned items and adjust the refund amount accordingly.

Even though we inspect all shipments before they leave our shop, damage can occur during transit.

Here's what to do:

  1. Inspect your shipment carefully before signing the delivery receipt.

  2. If you see visible damage, note it clearly on the paperwork and take detailed photos.

  3. Contact us immediately at vivi@dirtboxoverland.com with your order number and photos.

We will help initiate a claim with the freight carrier and work with you to repair or replace any damaged parts.

At Dirtbox Overland, we take every precaution to ensure your products are shipped safely. However, it's important to understand the following liability terms:

  • Carrier Liability: Our freight carriers are required to maintain liability insurance, which provides coverage for potential damages during transit. The exact coverage amounts may vary based on the carrier and the nature of the shipment. We recommend reviewing the carrier's insurance policy for specific terms and coverage details.

  • Inspection Upon Delivery: It's crucial to inspect your shipment upon delivery. If damage is discovered, it must be noted on the delivery receipt, and we must be contacted immediately. Failure to do so may limit our ability to assist with freight damage claims.

  • Third-Party Shipping: If a dealer or installer opts to use their own shipping carrier, Dirtbox Overland is not responsible for any damage or loss that occurs during transit. All coordination, liability, and timing are the responsibility of the third-party shipper.

  • Acts of Nature: We are not liable for damages caused by events beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, accidents, or other unforeseen circumstances.

  • Customer Responsibility: Customers are responsible for ensuring that the delivery location is accessible and equipped to handle the shipment, especially for large items requiring special unloading equipment.
